Perkins who would have been one year old at his next birthday..2 He died circa 1861 at Barnston, Stanstead, Quebec, Canada. He does not appear as a family member for the 1871 census. Since he was probably a child born when Hannah was 47, he probably died shortly after birth.

His birth and death may have contributed to the possible separation between Timothy Hanson and Hannah after the 1861 census.1

Sarah Perkins1

F, b. say 1835
Father*Timothy Hanson Perkins b. Jun 1804, d. 6 Dec 1886; I am only suggesting her as a daughter because of her having been a witness to Hannah Ann Perkins's marriage, and because she fits nicely into the gap between Charles E.'s birth and that of Hannah Ann.1
Mother*Hannah A. (Ann?) Marsh1 b. c 1813, d. b 1881
Sarah was born at possibly, Whitefield, Coos, New Hampshire, say 1835. I have no proof whatsoever that she was a daughter of Timothy H. Perkins and Hannah Marsh but, there is a need for a child after Charles and before Hannah Ann. Also, there was a Sarah Perkins who was a witness to the 1859 marriage of Hannah Ann to Harry Corliss.

The problem with this thesis is that there are no records, except the marriage record of Hannah, to substantiate her existence.

The lack of records after her signature as a witness to Hannah Ann could be explained by her death after 1859 but, again, there is no death record.

Circumstantial evidence for her being a daughter of Timothy and Hannah (Marsh) Perkins: Her alleged mother was the daughter of Sarah (Hill) Marsh. She was a witness to her sister Hannah's marriage.

All things being equal, I think that Timothy and Hannah's first daughter was named Sarah. What happened to her after her sister Hannah Ann's marriage is a question..1

On 20 Jan 1775, Henry and Dorothy Marsh, yeoman and tanner, sells to Ephraim Morrill for 72 English Pounds approximately 100 acres, which in in Lot 3 in Range 1, in the upper hundred acre lots in the First Division, and which belonged to the original right of Ephraim Robinson. (Book 1, p. 45o). This land is probably in Gilmanton.

On 20 Jan 1775, Henry Marsh buys for 27 English Pounds from Ephraim and Dorothy Morrill, the Southeast end of lot 7 in Range 1 of lots from Barnstead (?) in said Gilmanton. (Book 1, pg. 400.)

On 8 Dec 1799, Henry Marsh of Gilmanton, sold land in Effingham, NH, to John Keniston, 2nd Division of lands, Number 24. (Could be this Henry.)

John Marsh of Exeter was names executor of his father Henry Marsh's estate in 1715 at Durham. There are many mentions of him in Exeter and Brentwood, NH.

16 Aug 1710; Scout from Exeter against the Indians (Bell, History of Exeter, 227).

1714; Taxed in Exeter.

6 March 1718; buys 25 acres of land near Great Hill in Exeter from James Dudley. (NH Deeds, 58:259).

1719; Appears twice in court regarding debts owed by himself and Henry Dwyer to John Weeks of Greenland. (NH P.R. nos. 21597 and 21598).

1725; Given 30 acres of land by the Town of Exeter. (Bell, 143)

1734; appears in court for debt of 24 English pounds owed to Joseph Rawlings. (NH P.R. no. 14529)

1736; A witness of deeds of Samuel and Joseph Fellors of Kingston (NH Deeds, 22:172).

26 Sep 1738; John Marsh signed a petition to have part of Exeter set off as parish of Brentwood. (NH Town Papers, 9:256).

1738; appears in court for borrowing Simon Dow's horse, not returning it on time, and injuring it. (NH P.R. no. 13428).

The list goes on in similar fashion to 17 Mar 1766; At the annual town meeting of Brentwood, it was "voted old Mr. John Marsh be clear's from ye rate of his Head in Constable John Smith's rate 64 and from Constable Daniel Leavitt's rates 65 viz [that is to say] all there is behind in their rates. (Brentwood Town Records page 199). This appears to say that John was forgiven the head tax that he owed.

John's acres of 1725 were in western Exeter, later Poplin and now Fremont. The Blackrock Sawmill, of which John originally owned a part, lies near the center of Fremont.

His list of children are mostly inferred from associated evidence.3,4 John was born at Durham, Strafford, New Hampshire, circa 1692. Durham was originally called Oyster River Plantation..1 He married Elizabeth Pomeroy on 20 May 1714 at Exeter, Rockingham, New Hampshire, Maine & NH Dict. says that they were married at Greenland.5,6

On 19 Jul 1694 he was one of thirteen signers of a petition by men of Lubberland, which was part of Oyster River, then part of Dover, NH. They were requesting soldiers to help protect them from Indians.

In that same year, Henry received a grant of land from the community of Oyster River (NEHGR, 8:250).

In 1695 Henry signed a petition requesting the Oyster River be separated from Dover and be made a township of its own (Stackpole: History of Durham).

In Mar 1702 Henry received a grant of 40 acres above Coffin's Mill over against Moses Davis's land (NEHGR, 8:145).

On 20 Apr 1709 Henry and wife Elizabeth, sold land east of Moharramet's Hill in Madbury to William Dam, Jr. (NH Deeds 8:145).1 Henry was born at possibly, Durham, Strafford, New Hampshire, circa 1660. Henry's birth date is determined from a deposition he gave in 1704, stating that his age was 44.

On 17 Jul 1715 Elizabeth Marsh renounced administration of her husband's estate in favor of her son, John, of Exeter. Appraisal of the estate was done by Stephen Jones and John Burnham of Oyster River. The inventory was filed on 15 Aug 1715, and amounted to 41 English pounds. on 18 Aug the court authorized John Marsh of Exeter to sell enough real estate to cover the debts of his deceased father. On 20 Aug 1715, John, his wife Elizabeth, and his mother Elizabeth all signed a deed selling 40 acres of land to Jonathan Thompson of Oyster River. (NH Deeds, 8:34.)1
