Nathaniel was born at Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts, on 8 January 1719.2,3 He married Catherine (Katherine) Briant, daughter of William Bryant and Rebecca Arnold, at Reading, Middlesex, Massachusetts, on 5 December 1743.4,2 Vital records from Reading, Mass., list the births of his first three children.

Based on the dates and the various locations, I think that after the birth of William in 1751, Nathaniel and his wife moved back to Essex County Mass., where the remainder of his children probably were born. I suspect that the Pepperell birth places listed on Ancestry.com are incorrect, as are those of Milford, NH.

Later, after all his children had been born, he and his wife moved to Lyndeborough, NH, perhaps to live with a son who had relocated there.

Descendants of Abraham Bryant lists the birthdates of William and Ebenezer, fails to say where they were born.

Ancestry.com claims William was born in Reading, but no vr entry backs that up.

IGI claims that Ebenezer was born in Saugus but again, no vr backs that claim up. Incidentally, Saugus was only a district located within the Town of Lynn until 1815.

Ancestry.com also adds Thomas and Timothy, born 28 Jun 1753, and 24 Jul 1758, respectively, with birth places of Andover and Saugus, both in Essex County, Mass., respectively.

Ancestry.com also adds Mary, born 4 22 Dec 1755, but does not specify where. in 1744 at about the births of his children.1,2,5,6 The births of Thomas in 1753 and Elizabeth in 1761 are not proven by any source except the IGI and Ancestry.com. While they are not impossible, there is no evidence to support them. The Abraham Bryant Descendants does not list them, but instead jumps from the birth of William in 1751 to the birth of Ebenezer in 1764, thirteen years later. Although there is no evidence for Elizabeth and Thomas, it seems likely that they might well have been Nathaniel's children.

Since the Bryant family was in Reading and all of the Hutchinson children after William were probably born in Essex County, it doesn't disturb me that the Bryant Descendants does not list them. Leaving a gap of 13 years between children does give pause, however.

in 1751.2,1,6,7,5 Nathaniel Hutchinson began military service on 19 April 1775 at Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts, "Hutchinson, Nathaniel, Lynn. Sergeant, Capt. Daniel Parker's (1st Lynn) co., which marched probably on the alarm of April 19, 1775, to Concord; service, 2 days."8 From a certified copy of the records from the Massachusetts Archives: Vol. 13, p.45 by William M. Olin, Secretary of the Commonwealth: Nathaniel Hutchinson loaned money to the Federal Government [ie Continental Congress] during the years 1777-1779. between 1777 and 1779.6 Nathaniel died on 30 January 1780 at Lyndeborough, Hillsborough, New Hampshire, at age 61.2

I'm guessing at the marriage place because Ebenezer's father died at Lyndeborough 30 Jan 1780, so the family had already moved to that time by the 1784 marriage date. At the time of his father's death, Ebenezer would have been 16 years old, so four years later, when he married, he was no doubt still living in Lyndeborough..1 Ebenezer Hutchinson lived in 1790 at Lyndeborough, Hillsborough, New Hampshire. He is listed as a resident of Lyndeborough in every Census through 1830.

He may have moved to the nearby town of Gilsum after 1830 because "the following are the names of those who united with the church [in Gilsum] during this period: Arnold Bryant Hutchinson and Martita his wife [son of Ebenezer and Thomasin], Ebenezer Hutchinson and Thomasin his wife, Senah, wife of Rev. William Hutchinson [son of Ebenezer]."

The exact date of the Hutchinsons' Gilsum church are not known, except that they occurred during the ten-year-period between the dismissal of Rev. Chase on 26 April 1830 and the arrival of Rev. Langdon about ten years later.

The fact that William Hutchinson's wife is noted but not William may indicate that the date was after April 1842 when William died.

The Lyndeborough history, however, states that Ebenezer moved to Hancock, NH in 1833. All of these towns are in Hillsborough County.3,4 He lived in 1833 at Hancock, Hillsborough, New Hampshire.5 Ebenezer died on 5 February 1854 at Saint Johnsbury, Caledonia, Vermont, at age 89.1

There's an interesting story about George Dennison's wives. Although he came to America with his father in 1631, he returned to England after his first wife died in 1643. He fought for Oliver Cromwell in the English Civil War and was wounded at the Battle of Naseby on 14 June, 1645. He was nursed back to health at the home of John Borodell by Borodell's daughter Ann. Apparently the nursing made an impression because George and Ann were married, and she came back to Roxbury with him. Another version of the story has it that George fell in love with Ann at her home in Ireland where she nursed him after a battle. He tried to persuade her to marry him, but she didn't want to leave home and go to America. George left Ireland and returned to Roxbury where he married Bridget Thompson. After Bridget died in 1643, he returned to England and fought in the English Civil War as a cavalry officer. While there he visited Ann in Ireland and was able this time to convince her to marry him and return to New England. The problem with this latter version is that it is unlikely that he would have had time to make these several trips back and forth across the Atlantic. If he was born in 1618, he was only 13 when he emigrated to America with his father in 1631, and 22 when he married Bridget in 1640. In those nine years he would have had to train as a soldier and return to England, fight in Ireland, get wounded and woo Ann Borodell, and finally return to Roxbury in time to marry Bridget. The first version is much more plausible, unless George did not emigrate to New England with his father in 1631. If he remained behind, he could well have fought and been wounded in Ireland, unsuccessfully wooed Ann and then emigrated to New England in time to marry Bridget Thompson. However he met his second wife, George was first and foremost a soldier. He was described by contemporaries in Stonington, CT, as "the Miles Standish of the Settlement". The George Denison Genealogy describes him as follows: "He had no equal in any of the colonies, for conducting a war against the Indians, excepting perhaps Capt. John Mason." Miss Calkins, in her history of New London, says of him: "Our early history presents no character of bolder and more active spirit than Capt. George Denison; he reminds us of the border men of Scotland." He was baptized on 10 December 1620 at Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, England.1,2 Capt. George Denison immigrated in 1631 to Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts, aboard the "Lyon."3 He married Bridget Thompson, daughter of John Thompson Gentleman and Alice Freeman, at Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts, in March 1640.4,3,2 He married Ann Borodell, daughter of John Borodell, at Naseby, Northamptonshire, England, in 1645.5,6,2 George died on 28 October 1694 at Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut, at age 73.4
